Tomorrow’s Company is a UK based ‘think’ and ‘do’ tank

Tomorrow's Company is the agenda setting ‘think and do’ tank which looks at the role of business and how to achieve enduring business success.  We focus on strong relationships, and clear purpose and values as the foundation of effective leadership and governance.

In our programmes we challenge business leaders around the world to work in dialogue with others to tackle the toughest issues. We promote systemic solutions, working across boundaries between business, investors, government and society.

We believe that business can and must be a 'force for good'. This in turn requires a strengthening of stewardship by shareholders. We argue that the Age of Sustainability has begun, and that in the future success and value creation will come from recognising the ‘triple context’ – the links between the economic, social and environmental sub-systems on which we all depend, and the opportunities this brings.

Tomorrow’s Company is a PRI Signatory

Tomorrow’s Company is a service provider signatory to the United Nations' Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). The UN Secretary General describes these principles as a set of global best practices for responsible investment incorporating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria.

We argue that in the future, success and value creation will come from recognising the 'triple context' – the links between the economic, social and environmental sub-systems on which we all depend, and the opportunities this brings. This is why we have undertaken agenda setting research around ESG issues over the last 15 years. Our 2004 Report 'Restoring Trust – investment in the twenty first century' helped prepare the ground for the development of the Principles for Responsible Investment. We have recently carried out relevant research and agenda setting on:

• the relationship between governance, innovation, risk management and value creation
• the importance, definition and principles of stewardship in order to address the problem of 'ownerless corporations'
• climate and biodiversity factors and their implications for business
• the new talent agenda for global companies

We also offer several customised services which can assist other signatories in fulfilling their commitments to the Principles. These include:

• Scenario work and advice on the evolving agenda for ESG issues
• Scorecards and other diagnostic techniques based upon the Tomorrow’s Company Stewardship Principles to assess the stewardship of boards, asset managers and asset owners.
• Scorecards, diagnostics and clinics to help companies improve their Annual Reports and Sustainability reports and achieve greater integration between the two
• Advisory work with companies across the whole range of ESG issues and practice
• Providing a debate platform for an online community on forceforgood website forceforgood.com as well as our Tomorrow’s Corporate Governance column and our Responsible Investment column
• Hosting or co-hosting different events for analyzing and documenting the impact of ESG principles
