Technology, Productivity and Mental Health Roundtable

21st November 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

On 21th November 2018 we will be hosting a Roundtable to discuss the issues lying around mental health, technology and productivity in the workplace.

The purpose of the event is to consult and learn from a much wider group of stakeholders and partners and explore how we may work together to address what we see as the new factors surrounding the issue of mental health in the workplace. These are threefold:

  • First; Most of the business programmes to date, whilst often good, are still largely reactive. In other words, the initiatives only kick in when people start to present mental health issues in the workplace, and are geared to dealing with symptoms rather than addressing causes and their prevention.
  • Second; Mental Health is frequently considered a stand alone topic, disconnected from business’s mainstream activities and apart from the wider productivity and people equation. Solutions arrived at in such a narrow way can hardly be considered sustainable.
  • Third; The impact of technology. The introduction of artificial intelligence and big data, especially within the search for greater productivity, will transform work. Here, it is important to assess the potential impact on the workforce, with awareness of the ability to monitor consistently likely to lead to increasing stress levels.
