Stewardship Alliance Roundtable

24th May 2018 @ 8:00 am - 10:00 pm

This roundtable will be hosted by USS.

In January, as its contribution to the FRC’s preliminary consultation on the Stewardship Code, Tomorrow’s Company published Better Stewardship – an agenda for concerted action.

In it we drew on discussions with the Stewardship Alliance of institutional investors and companies, and offered, for consultation, our own recommendations on the steps that might be taken by asset owners, asset managers, companies and regulators.

This roundtable will be one part in a series of dialogues to discuss and improve these recommendations. We want to bring together representatives of the whole stewardship chain, so that we can together develop a shared view of the way forward towards Better Stewardship, and each of us define we can particularly do to contribute to progress.

Having captured the input of a wide range of stakeholders and having discussed this in more detail after the dialogues with the Stewardship Alliance and other Tomorrow’s Company partners, we hope to develop a set of recommendations which will be in front of the Financial Reporting Council just as it is deciding how to review the Stewardship Code. There is also the potential to influence government policy on the many related areas that are currently subject to official review, including audit, remuneration, investment consulting and corporate governance in private businesses.

Our round table discussions will be facilitated by a combination of Mark Goyder, our Founder, Scarlett Brown, our Director of Research and Policy, and Norman Pickavance, Leader.

This event has now passed: for more information, please get in touch with Dr Scarlett Brown, scarlett@tomorrowscompany.com. Going forward, we will be launching a summary report of findings.
