To improve public procurement – use the Trust Test
Public procurement is too often solely made on price, and not enough on true value and to account for areas...
KPMG and Tomorrow’s Company are delighted to join Relational Research in inviting you to join this launch event of ‘Transforming Capitalism from Within’.
Business as usual can no longer be taken for granted. The activities of global financial institutions as well as other large corporations are under increased scrutiny from their customers and wider society.
Jonathan Rushworth, formerly a senior partner at Slaughter & May, and Dr Michael Schluter CBE, former World Bank economist and social entrepreneur, argue in ‘Transforming Capitalism from Within’ that the global challenges in society and business can be addressed if companies put relationships with stakeholders at the heart of their operations. Jonathan will be introducing the report and its key findings at this event.
In the report’s executive summary, it states that ‘the divide between shareholders with a purely financial interest and no responsibility, and directors as management, is in part the cause of current concern over the operation and impact of companies on their stakeholders and society generally. This report suggests that, rather than seeking solutions to systemic instability in the political sphere through regulatory or tax responses, we should seek changes in the structure and conduct of stakeholder relationships.’
To think that managing relationships is critical to business success is hardly new. To put forward the notion that relationships are the most important dynamic in rebuilding trust in business and finance is radical.
You will have the chance to join other business leaders at this event to hear from the report’s authors and a panel of experts.
Vincent Neate who is a founding member of KPMG’s Private Equity Group and now KPMG’s Head of Sustainability will be introducing this event as well as joining Jonathan Rushworth and Alex Rickard on the panel.
Alex Rickard, Head of Employee Proposition at City Wealth Management firm Towry will be a panelist at this event. She is an advocate of how HR can help rebuild trust in financial services.
