After nearly two decades of service to Tomorrow’s Company, Pat Cleverly has decided that she wishes to step back from her current role of Director of Research, Policy and Strategy and reduce her time commitment to three days a week. She is appointed Senior Fellow, Leadership and Insight with effect from 1 November. In her new role, Pat will continue to work closely with me and to lead the work of our Tomorrow’s Global Leaders Forum. Pat will also undertake other projects which include completing the current project on Board Evaluation within the Good Governance Forum. One of her key responsibilities will be to ensure the fullest use of our back catalogue of work. Laurie Fitzjohn Sykes, who has been leading our Futures Project since he joined us earlier in the year, will become Director of Research with effect from 1 November. Laurie comes to us from a career in the City, where he worked for eight years in investment banking as a research analyst and in venture capital. He is the author of ‘Playing the Long Game – how to save the west from short-termism.’ I would like to acknowledge the formidable contribution Pat has made to date as Director of Research. Her many achievements include her development of our thought leadership agenda and leading the research for and drafting of reports including Employee Ownership in Tomorrow's Company; Restoring Trust: Investment in the twenty first century; Tomorrow’s Global Company: challenges and choices; Tomorrow's Innovation, Risk and Governance, Tomorrow’s Global Talent; Tomorrow’s Relationships; Tomorrow’s Business Forms; Tomorrow’s Capital Markets; Tomorrows Global Leaders – how to create a culture in which women reach the top, Tomorrow’s Risk Leadership and the many other outputs of the Good Governance Forum. I am delighted that Pat’s experience and intellectual rigour will still be available to Tomorrow’s Company in the next stage of our transition, and equally delighted to welcome Laurie to his new role – for which as he has already shown us he is very well qualified. Mark Goyder Chief Executive
